Baghdad Gate of Raqqa
The C8th Baghdad Gate of Raqqa was built in the Abbasid period and is the only part of the early Islamic city walls still extant, although its fate is currently unknown due to the presence of the so-called Islamic State in the city.

The entrance to Dayr Mar Elian
In this picture of the entrance to the monastery hand prints can be seen over the lintel. These were made by people making a vow to the saint and sacrificing an animal (goat or sheep) at the site and leaving a bloody handprint over the entrance to seal the prayer.

Intervention 36, Cloister wall north of church
When the church structure was examined in detail it was discovered that the north wall was actually at least three walls built sandwiched against each other and rendered over to create a walk way along the northern wall of the cloister with a step up on to the church roof.
